The 2009 Malibu gets some new equipment. A six-speed automatic transmission is now standard on LTZ models powered by the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. StabiliTrak electronic stability control is standard on all 2009 models and LS and Hybrid models now come standard with 17-inch wheels instead of 16s. A Bluetooth hands-free cell phone link is offered.

The 2008 Malibu comes well equipped with air con; cruise control; OnStar; satellite radio; 6-way driver's seat; power windows, doors, and mirrors; ABS; and six airbags.
A mild-hybrid version offers improved fuel-economy.

For 2006, the Chevrolet Malibu SS models receive a new, 240-hp, 3.9-liter V6 coupled to a sport-shift automatic, offering improved performance.
