Beginning with 2015 models built after July 2015, the vehicle's computer software was modified to optimize frontal airbag and seat belt pretensioner impact sensing, primarily for the small overlap frontal test mode, but also to a certain extent for the moderate overlap mode. Because the test vehicle was manufactured before the software change, the airbag computer was reprogrammed by a Fiat Chrysler engineer before the test to perform in the same manner as later production vehicles.
